Wyrd is an educational Monad Testnet prototype for fully collateralized, parametric risk transfer. Weather is the only implemented category.

Protection

A buyer accepts a manager-set quote and pays mock USDC for a fixed conditional payout. Purchase reserves the entire maximum claim in its vault. The premium is escrowed separately until settlement.

Underwriting

Only invited wallets can deposit during Funding. Deposits stop when underwriting begins. Each accepted policy locks its maximum claim; no share transfers or partial liability withdrawals are supported. After issuance ends and every liability settles, the epoch can close and shares can be redeemed. Claims can reduce capital. No APY or return is guaranteed.

Weather resolution

The exact dated specification commits the ERA5 daily rain_sum, grid cell, IST observation window, inclusive threshold, snapshot selection rules, and deadlines. The first valid snapshot archived from day 5 to before day 14 governs settlement, including preliminary ERA5T. Later corrections do not change a commitment.

A trusted authority commits evidence. Anyone can finalize a valid commitment, including after the deadline. Without a valid commitment, timeout INVALID is possible after the 14-day deadline. INVALID refunds the premium. Hash verification detects changed bytes; it does not prove weather truth.

Demonstrations and limitations

Synthetic demonstrations have precommitted simulated outcomes and are labeled separately. Upcoming categories have no implemented contracts or markets. There is no tradable YES/NO position, independent audit, licensed insurance offering, or real-world protection. Mock funds have no monetary value.

Parametric basis risk means payouts and actual losses can differ. The authority and evidence service remain trusted. The interface never substitutes fabricated figures when contract reads fail.
